Two different scenes are depicted on the front and back, featuring pheasant like birds (presumably one is the male, the other the female) by bamboo on a river bank. The middle panel is made from an alloy of copper and gold, treated to have a striking black finish and adorned with two tone gold accents. Made in Japan in the 1860s, it's a delightful thing, with gold
